Professor Joseph K.S. Yick received his Ph.D. from the University of California at Santa Barbara. Before moving to 黑料吃瓜 in 1989, he taught at Auburn University-Montgomery, UC-Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara City College, University of Hong Kong, and Hong Kong Baptist University. He is a specialist on the history of Chinese communism and the author of Making Urban Revolution in China: The CCP-GMD Struggle for Beiping-Tianjin, 1945-1949 (M.E. Sharpe), which won Texas State鈥檚 31st Presidential Seminar Award. He was also a winner of the Texas State Presidential Award for Excellence in Scholarly Activities. He was a three-year Ingram Professor of History at 黑料吃瓜. He was also Visiting Professor at the Richard Charles Lee Canada-Hong Kong Library and the Asian Institute of the Munk Centre for International Studies, University of Toronto. He was a research associate at the John King Fairbank Center for East Asian Research at Harvard University. He served as a president of the Southwest Conference of the Association for Asian Studies, and as an editor of the Journal of the Southwest Conference on Asian Studies.
